SMOKER'S ORAL HEALTH

Tobacco smoke profoundly affects the smoker's oral cavity, conditioning their hygiene and care needs.
The constant incidence of smoke components, with more than 400 toxic substances, in all parts of the mouth, teeth, gums, saliva, etc. causes smokers to lose, on average, twice as many teeth as non-smokers. These components are deposited on the teeth, forming a resinous film composed of tar, nicotine, dental plaque and other substances that adhere strongly to the teeth, staining them yellow and creating a favourable environment for the development of oral diseases.
To help preserve the mouth from the effects of these components, and their aesthetic and health consequences, it is necessary for smokers to clean and take special care of their mouth by maintaining strict oral hygiene and regular visits to their dentist, as smoking is incompatible with oral health.
